Our role as a responsible builder means we care about the communities we build in. And we’re proud that everyone who works for us does too. And they don’t just say it, they show it through getting involved in local charities and good causes.
Right now, we’re rolling up our sleeves together and volunteering a year full of good deeds through our Helping Hands initiative.
It works like this. Anyone who wants to get involved can put their hand up to give back a day of their time to their favourite charity. Or they can choose to help out at one of our many organised events, a charity, school or local cause throughout the year.

A team of volunteers from our South West recently registered their support for the charity’s Million Mile Clean by undertaking a five-mile clean-up of a Devon beach, from Westward Ho! to Northam Burrows.
A team of volunteers from Wain Group lent a hand at The Walton Lea Partnership by weeding, clearing leaves, de-mossing footpaths and planting in the gardens.
Our team loves rising to a challenge so when Hambleton Primary School asked for our help to refurbish their outdoor areas we jumped at the chance. Eight volunteers from our North West region, visited Hambleton Primary School near Poulton-Le-Fylde in Lancashire and spent a day relocating a summer house, building new outdoor furniture, creating a new sandpit and mud kitchen for the nursery children to enjoy.
The grounds and gardens of Willow Wood Hospice in Ashton-under-Lyne, Tameside, had a summer makeover thanks to our North West team. A dozen of our employees rose to the challenge and painted all of the benches and a pergola in the Weeping Willow Courtyard area around the fountain, painted a larger pergola in the memory garden, a table and bench in the Tranquil Area and and undertook garden maintenance in a section of the Tranquil Garden.

Monmouthshire Scouts
When Rhodri Owen, a quantity surveyor with our Severn Valley team, told us his local Scouts’ store hut needed an update, colleagues were happy to give a Helping Hand.
Wain Homes Severn Valley colleagues, Maisie Boyd and Thomas Doe, spent the day volunteering at Bristol loneliness charity, the Marmalade Trust’s Summer Fete at Windmill Hill City Farm in Bristol.
We helped to bring the curtains up when we contributed to a brand new stage for theatre productions at St John’s Catholic Primary School in Poulton-le-Fylde.
Eight members of our South West team helped to build a new play area for an Ivybridge nursery school as part of our Helping Hands volunteering initiative.
