When Rhodri Owen, a quantity surveyor with our Severn Valley team, told us his local Scouts’ store hut needed an update, colleagues were happy to give a Helping Hand.
Rhodri explained: “The 1st Shirenewton Scout Group keeps all its equipment in a hut next to Devauden Village Hall and it desperately needed a total clear out and re-organisation, as well as a new timber door.
“It is really great that I, and colleagues, can take a paid day off to tackle projects like this as part of Wain Homes’ Helping Hands initiative. It was great to work on the project as a team and see the difference we could make.”
As well as taking every single piece of equipment out of the shed, sorting into categories, labelling shelves and replacing, Wain Homes also provided and installed a new timber door to ensure the hut is now safe and secure.
Darren Share, team lead volunteer, said: “I just wanted to say, on behalf of all the leaders and young people at 1st Shirenewton, a massive thank you to Rhodri for organising the day and to the entire Wain Homes’ team. Linda, Paul, Phil and Rich were a credit to your company and did a fantastic job with the door and sorting out our mess of a shed. I am going to strictly enforce it staying that way from now on (hopefully!).”
