Severn Valley Region to Deliver Nearly 600 New Homes

Our Severn Valley region is set to deliver nearly 600 energy efficient new homes across Gloucestershire, Somerset, Wiltshire, Oxfordshire and the West Midlands after a flurry of successful planning approvals.

Headquartered in Bradley Stoke, our Severn Valley region has now started construction work on seven new developments which will deliver 593 new homes, including 173 affordable homes, with a joint Gross Development Value (GDV) of £225m.

As part of the development agreements and Community Infrastructure Levies (CIL), the region will contribute more than £7million to local infrastructure, green spaces, education and health services.

Carl Haley, managing director of Wain Homes Seven Valley, said: “To receive planning consent for this number of homes and developments within a nine month period is testament to the hard work and diligence of the whole Wain Homes team and our partners in the Severn Valley region. All of the new developments are situated in excellent locations where people want to live, with excellent connectivity, local amenities and good schooling.

“As an independent housebuilder with a 50-year heritage, Wain Homes has a reputation for delivering new communities which landowners and local communities can be proud of and make positive impressions on the local area. Our flexible, common sense approach to land acquisition benefits landowners who wish to secure best value for land whilst at the same time creating legacy developments and this is reflected in our recent successful planning applications, in which planners have accepted our attention to detail and carefully considered designs.”

The largest of the new developments will see 125 new homes constructed at Badbury Green in Faringdon, Oxfordshire and 119 properties at Hillwood Gardens in Coventry.

Other sites include Mead Fields in Parklands, Weston-super-Mare which will feature 95 homes; 75 homes at Cherry Blossom View in Midsomer Norton and 70 homes at Keyford On The Green in Frome, Somerset,

A further 67 homes will be delivered at Horizon in Westbury, Wiltshire and 42 at Lister Gardens 2 in Cam, Gloucestershire.

Every new home will include electric vehicle charging with 86 per cent of the homes featuring Photo Voltaic (PV) technologies. Many of the properties will also include heat pumps, supporting our sustainability objectives.

Carl added: “Rolling out these new developments will see our region being the largest it has ever been, both geographically and in the number of homes we construct, and a major contributor to the Wain Group’s overall growth plan of delivering 1,600 homes annually by 2028.

“It also presents an exciting time for our regional business, with new roles available for ambitious and talented people in the housebuilding industry who want to play an integral role as we continue to expand and enjoy a career with a privately-owned business which encourages everyone’s contributions and ideas.”
