North Devon Hospice now has vital additional storage space for its occupational therapy department after a team of volunteers from our South West region provided their time and equipment to construct a new outbuilding.
The volunteers from our Exeter-based land and planning team built the storage space as part of the Wain Homes’ Helping Hands initiative, which sees colleagues given time out of the business to support local charities and good causes in their communities.
For the past 40 years, North Devon Hospice has been providing care and support to those facing a life-limiting illness like cancer, both at its hospice in Barnstaple and in people’s own homes.
Mark Harding, land and planning director at Wain Homes, said: “The support North Devon Hospice provides to people in this community is invaluable and it was both a pleasure and a privilege for our team to be able to volunteer their time and skills to make a real difference.
“The hospice cares for around 3,000 people every year from right across North Devon and the new storage space we helped to create will no doubt be put to excellent use in bringing comfort to those who are facing the most difficult times of their lives.”
Wain Homes is building energy efficient new homes across Devon and Cornwall, with three of our developments – Molbrook in South Molton, Otter’s Reach in Yelland and Kingsland in Westward Ho! – less than 30 minutes from North Devon Hospice.
Claire Paine, business relationship manager at North Devon Hospice, said: “Thank you so much to the incredible Wain Homes team for so generously donating their time, skills and equipment to help us to construct our new occupational therapy storage shed. We are so grateful to them all for going above and beyond in all weathers to get this project completed.
“We are all so thankful to have had the best team on the job. I honestly can’t believe how much they all achieved in just one day and we would be delighted to invite them back again in the future.”
